The Essendon Football Club are excited to be teaming up again with Challenge for its 2025 Supporting Kids with Cancer Match in Round 19 against the GIANTS at Marvel Stadium on Thursday, July 17, supported by official partner Yakult.
The Dons have been getting behind the cause for more than two decades, bringing hope and support to children living with cancer and their families. This legacy of support, inspired by former player and cancer survivor Adam Ramanauskas, is a true testament to the club’s enduring commitment to making an impact off the field.
Since 2003, the club has dedicated itself to raising critical awareness and funds for Challenge and is proud to have raised more than $1 million so far with the support of official partner Yakult. This symbol of solidarity proves that the ‘Challenge Game’ is more than just a match.
This year the Dons will continue their meaningful community interactions at hospital visits and player engagements, with a focus to bring joy and connection to children battling cancer.
On Tuesday, the club will welcome Challenge kids and their families to the NEC Hangar to paint selected players’ boots, which will be match-worn and later available for purchase, with all proceeds going to Challenge. The kids and their families will also be joining the team at their Captain’s Run session next week.
To top their week off, the Challenge kids will be presenting the players with their boots pre-game and will walk hand-in-hand with the Bombers through the banner on gameday.
The vital funds raised for Challenge directly supports the essential programs and services that bring comfort and assistance to children with cancer. It’s thanks to the Bomber fans and greater community that these kids are given a beacon of hope in their cancer journey. Whether it’s through attendance, donations, or simply spreading awareness, your support goes a long way.
You can also show your support by donning one of the limited edition Matt Guelfi x Challenge t-shirts available to purchase here and in-store at the Bomber shop. All profits made will be going straight to Challenge.
